Miss Led Workshops

I have delivered workshops for over thirteen years, working with artists, galleries, brands, retailers, companies and community organisations across Europe. As I’ve been fortunate to practice as an illustrator, a fine artist and a street artist – as well as teach Public Art at degree level – I take every opportunity that I can to leave the studio and work with artists and the art-engaged face-to-face. To discuss a workshop with your customers, product, staff or audience, please get in touch at hello@missled.co.uk.

Recent workshops

VANS: Portraiture Workshop @ The House of VANS, London, UK
Most recently, VansVNA MagazineHudson Mohawke, a range of other artists and musicians and I partnered to celebrate 42 years of the Old Skool shoe at The House of Vans venue, skatepark and event space in London with a two-day event. As well as contributing two original works to VNA Magazine’s on-site show, I was also invited to deliver my Portraiture Workshop.

La Galaria Roja: Intensive 3-day Illustration Course, Seville, Spain
A 3-day workshop for ten attendees, led by myself and held at La Galaria Roja, a contemporary painting and illustration gallery in Seville. The course gave an end-to-end guide to portraiture, including concept development, composition and technique. Attendees experimented with a wide range of media including watercolour, graphite and brush pens, and group sessions allowed me to pass on advice on using social media to promote work, gaining artist representation and approaches to research.

SAATCHI GALLERY: Mixed media Fashion Illustration @ Saatchi Gallery, London, UK
The Saatchi Gallery, arts material superbrand ColArt and I produced two workshops in the gallery for 18 attendees each. Working with Col Art’s Liquitex, Conte and Windsor & Newton materials, I demonstrated a range of techniques and approaches to conveying messages and promoting products within commercial and fashion illustration.

Mixed-media Fashion Illustration Workshops

Working with partners including The Saatchi Gallery, Hoxton’s ThePrintSpace, Cass Art branches throughout London and Boesner Europe in Vienna, I take groups of up to 15 through my experiences working in fashion illustration and the approaches that have worked best for me.

Using reference material, live demonstration, projections and sometimes models, we create inspiration, develop technique and guide hands-on work.

Portraiture Workshops

Delivered most recently for VANS in London and La Galeria Roja in Seville, these workshops see me work live on paper and projector screen and strip down the portraiture process into steps to highlight how small changes can have huge impacts.

I create opportunities to work both as a group and one-to-one with attendees including illustration students, designers, advertising and media professionals, bloggers and drop-in art lovers turning their hand to illustration for the first time, attracted by online promotion of the events.

Narrative Portraiture Workshops: Working with words

A workshop covering core portraiture skills and beyond, exploring narrative themes and methods of incorporating narrative elements within work.

The workshop reviews the narrative-led work I create for clients and for myself, and touches upon autobiographic portraiture, work which celebrates individuals, objects and places, typography and text layout, poetry and finding inspiration from text.
